RPC joins forces with diversity organisation Aspiring Solicitors
New partnership will play integral role in opening up access to the law for underrepresented groups
City-based law firm, RPC, has signed a partnership agreement with diversity organisation, Aspiring Solicitors. The move sees RPC not only gain access to a diverse pool of talent, it also allows the firm to play its own responsible role in opening up access to the profession for students who may have otherwise been unable to get a foot in the door.
Set up by former Norton Rose Fulbright associate Chris White in 2013, Aspiring Solicitors works to increase diversity in the legal profession through a series of programmes aimed at underrepresented groups, including black and minority ethnic candidates, candidates with disabilities, LGBT+ candidates and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
James Miller, Managing Partner at RPC said: "Our partnership with Aspiring Solicitors demonstrates our continued commitment to diversity and equality within the firm. A good place to start is with the way we recruit our junior lawyers. We look forward to working with Chris to design a programme that sees us engage with a wider pool of potential applicants than ever before."
Chris White, founder of Aspiring Solicitors, said: "We have been working with RPC through the Legal Diversity and Inclusion Directory for the last two years but now we are excited by the prospect of assisting them to recruit the best diverse aspiring solicitors via our talent development programme as an Affiliate Member.
"We will be coaching our members to successfully apply to RPC and will also be welcoming representatives from the firm to a variety of diversity and inclusion events and opportunities. We look forward to assisting an already committed team to help recruit the best candidates."
The team at Aspiring Solicitors provides the students in its network with recruitment-focused training, careers support and access to quality legal work experience.
