RPC advises Wave Optics on $500m sale to Snap Inc.
International law firm RPC has advised Wave Optics on its sale to Snap Inc., a transaction valued in excess of $500m.
Wave Optics is a UK tech start-up that designs and manufactures waveguides, the key component in augmented reality glasses. Snap Inc. is the NASDAQ listed owner of Snapchat, and has a market capitalisation in excess of $80bn.
Wave Optics has world-beating augmented reality waveguide technology. Snap is investing in augmented reality hardware as it, like many others, predicts that augmented reality glasses will become as popular as, or even surpass, smart phones as people's means of accessing the internet.
The RPC deal team was led by Partner Neil Brown and included Jenny Tran, Rupert Wyles, Ben Roberts, David Wallis and Abdul Wali. RPC has worked with Wave Optics for several years, with Partners Rupert Boswall, David Cran, Mark Crichard and Paul Joukador performing important roles in the relationship.
Jeremy Drew, head of RPC's technology group, added that:
"It is fantastic to see RPC advising on such a high profile and significant technology transaction, further emphasising our tech capabilities".
