RPC advises Susie Ma in Tropic Skincare 50% buyout from Lord Sugar
International law firm RPC has advised the founder of Tropic Skincare (Tropic), Susie Ma, after her decision to buyout investor, Lord Sugar, and return sole ownership to her for an undisclosed sum.
Sugar acquired a 50% share of Tropic in 2011 following Susie's appearance on his BBC One show, The Apprentice.
Susie founded Tropic aged 15 and has grown the business from a stall at Greenwich Market into a multimillion-pound business. She comments on her success saying: "I will always be so grateful for the investment Lord Sugar made, and the potential he saw in Tropic with me at the helm. After founding the company at just fifteen and spending every day since building it into the success you see today, reclaiming full ownership has always been my ambition. I am beyond excited for the infinite possibilities the future holds, and to continue making a positive impact on the planet with our natural, freshly made formulations and inspiring Ambassadors."
The RPC deal team was led by Partner Jeremy Cunningham who says of the transaction: "We were honoured to help Susie achieve her ambition of reclaiming full ownership of Tropic. We were delighted to be able to guide her through the process at this exciting stage in Tropic's growth. We are excited to see what the future holds for Susie – her story is inspiring."
