RPC advises Frasers Group on strategic partnership to expand Sports Direct across Southeast Asia and India

International law firm RPC has advised Frasers Group on its landmark partnership with MAP Active, a major step in the retail group’s international growth strategy. The agreement will see Sports Direct enter five new markets across Southeast Asia and India, with plans to launch over 350 stores across the region.

The British retail giant is teaming up with MAP Active, a leading sports, fashion and lifestyle distributor in Asia, to bring the Sports Direct offering to consumers in Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia.

The RPC cross-commercial team consisted of Partner and Head of Corporate Karen Hendy and  Senior Associates Eleanor Harley and Niki Asprou. Commenting on the deal, Karen Hendy, remarks: "We’re delighted to have supported Frasers Group on this milestone partnership. This is a bold and exciting move that cements the global ambitions of Sports Direct and demonstrates the power of local collaboration to unlock new markets. This partnership builds on Frasers Group’s existing relationship with MAP Active in Indonesia and reflects the Group’s wider international expansion strategy, following its recent deal to bring Sports Direct to the Middle East and North Africa.
