International law firm RPC continues ambitious growth as Asia offices celebrate 'remarkable decade'
Hong Kong office triples number of lawyers over 10 years, while Singapore office expands ten-fold
Last two years alone has seen a combined revenue increase of 35% across Singapore and Hong Kong
Bold growth plans to support people and help clients achieve their ambitions
RPC is eyeing up an ambitious future as the international law firm celebrates a 'remarkable decade' of exponential growth and success in Asia.
The Singapore office opened with just two lawyers, while in Hong Kong, 13 lawyers from Barlow, Lyde & Gilbert joined the firm and founded Smyth & Co in Association with RPC.
Today, Singapore has grown almost ten-fold in 10 years, with 31 people, including 21 lawyers.
In Hong Kong, the office has expanded to the largest in the region with 65 people and almost triple the number of lawyers to 37.
The firm's Asia offering also includes dedicated International desks, for PRC, Indonesia and Japan and, as of this year, the offering was further boosted as RPC launched its Korea desk - spearheaded by new partner Peter Kwon who joined from Ashurst.
Overall, there are now 18 Partners and 40 lawyers in Asia. The last two years alone have been exceptional for the firm, which has doubled the number of Partners and achieved a combined revenue increase of 35%.
Alongside a committed and vibrant workforce, the team has widened its remit to offer multi-jurisdictional, multi-disciplinary services across a broad range of disciplines, including financial litigation and investigations, commercial contracts, commercial disputes, M&A, corporate insurance, employment, insurance and reinsurance, IP, technology, international arbitration and regulatory.
Working arm-in-arm with RPC's offices in London and Bristol, RPC's Asia offices – which act for clients locally, in mainland China and across the Asia-Pacific region – have been integral to the significant growth achieved by the firm over the last 10 years.
Reflecting this success, the firm is substantially invested in refurbishing both the Singapore and Hong Kong offices and a technology upgrade programme, with a keen eye on continuing expansion.
Managing Partner Antony Sassi said: "RPC in Asia has seen steady and significant growth over the last decade. If the first ten years are an indication of what the next ten will bring, then we have very good reason to feel extremely optimistic for the bright future ahead.
"Our vision was to provide the same high quality, collaboration, and commitment to premium client service that RPC has built its reputation on in the UK and we have more than achieved this ambition.
"We are extremely grateful for the support of our clients, who have been a critical factor in the incredible growth we have achieved since 2012.
"As we embark on the next ten years, we remain committed to strengthening our presence in Asia through ambitious growth plans and building on our success."
