Associate
Tom is an Associate in our Tax, Investigations and Financial Crime Team and advises individuals and corporates on a wide range of complex tax investigations, from initial enquiry through to litigation and appeals before the Tax Tribunals and Courts as necessary. Tom also has expertise in financial crime and white collar investigations, supporting international clients experiencing issues with tax authorities and regulatory and law enforcement bodies, including relating to anti-money laundering, the proceeds of crime and bribery and corruption.

“I hold a strong interest not only in advising on disputes but also in risk management and pre-emptive compliance, helping to limit the extent of any such dispute and reduce litigation risks. This includes the implementation of compliance programmes and dispute resolution strategies and providing training for clients.
I take the time to listen carefully to understand my clients' needs in what can be times of stress for them, collaborate effectively to find solutions, and proactively manage risks to minimise disputes and ensure successful outcomes. Clients appreciate my collaborative approach and ability to maintain good relations between clients, tax authorities and regulatory bodies.
Prior to joining RPC, I was a solicitor within the Tax Disputes Team of a Big Four accountancy firm, where I gained particular experience in acting for clients in the financial services sector under investigation by HMRC."
Tom's recent work highlights:
- Acting for a global financial services company in relation to numerous tax issues that arose out of various disclosures made to HMRC following significant fraud perpetrated by former employees / members.
- Acting for various UK LLPs in HMRC enquiries based on the application of the Salaried Member Rules and Mixed Member Rules.
- Advising a private individual under investigation for allegedly making tainted charity donations.
