“One client said I’ve been known to make insurance regulation almost interesting!”

“I love the complexities and intricacies of working in the insurance market. I understand the insurance regulation and market first, and can convert that into something operational, practical, and proportionate to clients’ businesses.

Clients see me as a trusted advisor who understands the insurance market and takes the time to get to know their business and operations.  One client said I’ve been known to make insurance regulation almost interesting!

Being commercial yet prudent is important. So is being responsive and directional – it builds trust. I've been on five insurance market secondments so I get the needs of lawyers and the business. Communication and relationships are not a one-size-fits-all. Instead, I listen to the client, take heed of the scenario and use the model that is appropriate; for example, advice can be given over the phone, as a presentation, or in a note ready-to-go to the business.”

Jonathan’s recent work highlights:

Advising a number of insurers and market participants on their implementation of new Consumer Duty regulations.

Providing support and advice to a global insurer in its expansion into new retail and SME insurance products.

Acting as the third line of defence for a number of insurers when it comes to reviewing and advising on broker remuneration arrangements.
