Ed sits on RPC's Executive Committee (ExCo), and leads all brand, marketing, and business development activity at the firm.

With particular expertise in how to articulate strategy through brand – and how brand drives commercial growth – Ed's career has spanned a range of sectors, including international professional services, central government, and publishing. 

During his 20 years in the legal sector, he has taken leading roles on strategic brand and marketing projects which have won awards from the likes of The Lawyer, The Law Society and Lexis Nexis. An accomplished copywriter and skilled communicator, he has helped senior leaders message their way through crises, acquisitions and international office openings, amongst myriad other communications challenges. 

"First and foremost, my job is to understand what the firm is trying to achieve strategically and how that fits with client and market expectations. 

"It is then about supporting that ambition by recruiting, investing in, and motivating brilliant people. Critical to everything is the ability to foster relationships built on trust – with the Board, the wider firm, and within my immediate team.

"In my experience, people flourish in an environment of trust; when given the freedom to express themselves and live up to their promise. I try to strike the right balance between autonomy and support. And it's important to me that people enjoy the job they do; without exception, they deliver better work as a result. People rarely perform when they are micromanaged. 

"Fundamentally, I aim to set the tone for the team. I work hard. I take my job extremely seriously. But myself less so."
