Daniel Williams

Associate

Daniel works in our tax disputes team, and his specialities also include public law and HMRC enquiries and investigations. He acts on behalf of a broad clientele that ranges from FTSE 100 companies and Premier League football clubs to retailers, oil & gas companies, and high-net-worth individuals. He is a member of the London Tax Society.

“I have a lot of experience dealing with HMRC, and a deep understanding of their processes.”

“I work across several of RPC’s core sectors. My team works closely with auditors and accountants, so we’re very involved with professional practices. We work with a number of large retailers, and I very much enjoy helping them find commercial solutions. I also act on behalf of football clubs, which means I get to learn a lot about the fast-paced transfer market.

There’s also a strong global dimension to my work, and I’ve been involved in several international
tax disputes in Europe, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

My value to clients? Fundamentally, I have a lot of experience dealing with HMRC, and a deep understanding of their processes. Beyond that, I’m always concise and responsive in my dealings with clients, and pride myself on the calmness and dedication with which I approach my work on their behalf.”

Daniel’s recent work highlights:

Acting for Newcastle United Football Club in respect of HMRC's investigation of suspected non-payment of Income Tax, National Insurance Contributions, and VAT with regard to agents' fees.

Currently litigating a groundbreaking issue regarding HMRC's ability to retain documents seized, which will be considered by the Supreme Court.

Acting for Universal Cycles Limited in relation to a collection of cases concerning the application of Anti-Dumping Duty, Customs Duty, and VAT totalling over £30m.
