“As my specialism is legal costs, I work across our entire business. I really enjoy dealing with the wide variety of challenges involved in the many different sectors we work in.

My focus is always on getting the best financial and commercial outcome, so my priorities are determined by which side of the fence I’m on. If we’re acting for the receiving party, we’re looking at recovering the most costs. If it’s for the paying party, we’re focused on paying the least. In every case, there is always an eye on the commercial and financial implications of my input.

Commerciality is always at the forefront of my mind, and I try consistently to provide simple and pragmatic advice. I think it’s important to build rapport and try to understand the client's goals before proposing a strategy. I also prefer face-to-face meets wherever possible.”
