"I am a pragmatic lawyer who brings practical solutions to clients."

"Having on-the-ground experience in both the London Market and Latin America, clients value that I understand the markets and how they interact with each other.

This insight allows me to implement solutions and strategies which match the complexities and nuances of both sides. Also, my experience as a claims specialist means I understand, first-hand, the commercial drivers of (re)insurers when handling claims.

I am a pragmatic lawyer who brings practical solutions to clients.

In building client relationships there is nothing better than direct communication. My client's needs are a top priority."

Alex's work highlights

Advising 22 reinsurers based in London, Latin America, Middle East, Europe and US. The loss relates to a US $1bn property and business interruption loss following the collapse of a conveyor belt which caused damage to other parts of one of the largest copper mines in Latin America.

Advising 6 reinsurers based in London, Europe and the US. This loss relates to damage to electro-mechanical equipment in a power plant in Ecuador.  The insured has brought proceedings against the cedant in Ecuador. In parallel, the cedant has brought legal proceedings against reinsurers in London. The parallel litigation gives raise to a number of complex issues.

Advising 8 reinsurers based in London, Bermuda and the US on a political violence coverage.  The loss relates to a US $50 million property and business interruption loss following damage caused by local communities to one of the largest mines in Peru.  Similar incidents have occurred elsewhere in the region and so this loss has attracted the interest of the international (re)insurance market.
