"You have to be approachable, avoid legal jargon, and suggest practical solutions."

"I am experienced in managing complex cross-border international tax investigations, both civil and criminal.

I provide practical, commercial solutions to my clients, and am familiar with the inner workings of HMRC, having spent 17 years as a senior lawyer at HMRC’s Solicitor’s Office.

I assist clients with preventative action, throughout an HMRC enquiry and, when necessary, with litigation. I advise clients at every stage of a criminal matter from a 'dawn raid' through to trial. I also have extensive experience of challenging decisions of investigative bodies by way of judicial review proceedings.

I am an accredited mediator and have assisted many clients to achieve favourable settlements with HMRC through its Alternative Dispute Resolution process.

When supporting clients, you have to be approachable, avoid legal jargon and suggest a practical solution to the legal problem they are facing. The method of communication, and the personal service you provide to your client, has to be bespoke to the individual client - one size does not fit all."
