Defending all major and traditional professions, we advise you on significant and complex claims whether in negligence or breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, misrepresentation or involving regulatory/ disciplinary issues.
We are renowned for advising insurers on the defence of claims to enhance relationships and broker/ insurer reputations.
As well as providing advice for insurers we provide expert legal advice to insureds across a myriad of professions including solicitors, barristers, accountants, pension trustees, actuaries, surveyors and construction professionals facing regulatory challenges or defence claims.
Our specialist construction team handles high-value and complex construction PL claims. Whether defending claims in court or arbitration, we effectively utilise various dispute resolution mechanisms as appropriate. We also regularly advise key professional bodies, such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and the Architects Registration Board.
Close collaboration with the ICAEW keeps us informed of evolving financial regulations and we advise insurers on active coverage disputes with accountants and assist in drafting policy wordings.
In addition, our lawyers have an excellent track record in defending pension trustee claims, representing professional and member-nominated trustees, and delivering exceptional value compared to traditional pension litigation teams.
Our market-leading expertise includes professional indemnity coverage for financial advisers, particularly disputes over block notifications of systemic issues. We regularly advise on FCA consultations and support market submissions via the International Underwriting Association.
In defence work, our team represents the Big Four accountants globally, along with other large firms and SMEs, both directly and through insurers. We’ve successfully defended hundreds of claims against mortgage advisers without any payments and handle high-value defined benefit pension transfer mis-selling cases involving multi-million-pound exposures.
And, in defending claims against insolvency practitioners we leverage our knowledge of insolvency-specific court procedures while collaborating with our Restructuring & Insolvency team on technical matters. Our experience includes working with the UK’s largest insolvency firms.
